Started in Puglia Region, a project that has its roots deep in the cultural treasures preserved in Museums of Apulia, various discoveries, symbols and icons of the region.
This symbolism is artistically processed by Tarshito and his team, acquiring contemporary value and becoming an integral part of the artwork. The same concept will be expressed by an artist in the traditional style of the place in which they live, Tarshito will travel to this place to unite the artwork.
The Puglia Region meets other cultures on a basis of similarities and reflecting symbolism. A union between different traditions with similar cultural roots.
“The Camp of Wayfarers in Love”
“The camp of wayfarers in love” is a collective art project in which Tarshito travels to seven other countries to collaborate with artists from different cultures creating artworks in the form of painted tents…
A Part of the tent is painted by Tarshito and his team in Italy, then like a turtle that carries its home on its back, Tarshito travels with the tent to meet and collaborate with people from other cultures, traveling to places where the other artist that he meets will contribute on the other half of the tent, concluding with a spiritual celebration ceremony, an exhibition, an offering to the Divine – the union between cultures. And a professional video maker collects video material.
Chapter 1 – Thailand
Thailand was the first step of Tarshito’s journey through seven nations. (September 2022).
In the first stage of the project, curated by Veronica Caciolli Tarshito collaborated with the artists Inson Wongsam from Lamphun and Rampad Kothkaew from Chaing Mai.
The work was exhibited in River City, Bangkok in the presence of the Italian Ambassador in Thailand Lorenzo Galanti.
Chapter 2 – India
The second chapter of the project took place in Varanasi / Benares, the sacred city where the Ganges flow, here Tarshito met with Bachchelal Prajapati, an artist from an ancient family that creates the pictorial tradition of this place.
Bachchelal completed the artwork on one of Tarshito’s nomadic tents, emphasizing the nomad that everyone naturally has within them.
Tarshito together with Bachchelal took part in the celebration of Aesthetic Panarama at Assi Ghat, near Ganga Mahal, which was part of an International Symposium on VISUAL INTERPRETATION of Traditional Language curated by Dr S.K. Nag, and they organized a talk with the artist near Murmukska Bhavan, Assi Varanasi.

“The Camp of the Wayfarers in Love” continues in India, Naya Village, West Bengal, with the Chitrakar family, a family of storytelling artists.
Here Tarshito and the Chitrakar family painted the second tent, with tigers.
The next step of the project took place in Bhopal, with Venkat Raman Shing Shyam, Gond Art painter.
The celebration ceremony took place in the amazing Tajmahal Palace, Bhopal.

Here Tarshito worked on another tent in Madhya Pradesh, India. This time with Kazim Khatri, master of traditional block printing.

Here Tarshito worked with Puspa Rao, a painter and Pattachitra expert.

Here Tarshito collaborated with the Bhavm murals Kerala team, traditional Chuvarchithram.
“The Camp of the Wayfarers in Love” aimed at artistically meeting with custodians of traditions and ancestral values. The fundament of this art practice is the study and knowledge of the symbolism of the Puglia Region (Italy) and uniting them with international cultural symbols.
The tents are microcosms and welcoming places where souls meet to express their spirituality through art, a safeguarding place for every creature, a practice, a prayer, an act of radical hospitality that becomes a source of blessing. The tent is a concept beyond any religion and belongs to all cultures in order to create safe spaces for discernment, dialogue, rest, study, and a shelter that connects all of us wayfarers in love.
